Information and communication technology (ICT) is an important part of education system. The research question of the proposed presentation is: Is the achievement of 15 year old students influenced by ICT resources in schools and intensity of ICT use at school and at home, and if so, how? The results obtained within four cycles of the OECD PISA research program since 2000 will be discussed. Different aspects of ICT influence on teaching and learning will be discussed within the framework of the proposed paper: 1. Integration of ICT in education with the primary aim of: improving teaching & learning; increasing motivation for students and teachers; effective use of ICT as a factor of immediate positive impact on the school as a learning environment; 2. Development of ICT skills which are useful for students in their academic and professional lives; 3. ICT as a factor influencing students’ performance in different subject areas (mathematics, science, reading, problem solving).
