Symposium
Contribution
One main characteristic of a changing school culture is the increasing involvement of extracurricular collaboration (cf. Behr-Heintze & Lipski, 2005) and the initiation of school networks (cf. Berkemeyer et al. 2008). Collaboration and networking refer to the mutual use of resources that influence ranges of action, educational competencies and in fact teachers’ professionalisation (cf. Behr-Heintze & Lipski, 2005). Within the JeKi-program, primary schools collaborate with music school teachers. Collaboration and school networks, their effects, and their terms for success are mostly evaluated with usual methods of the survey research. Seldom the method of the social network analysis is applied. A standardised questionnaire for the teachers assesses individual, teaching, school and collaborative aspects. Also the acteurs’ egocentric networks are assessed by a self-developed instrument based on position generators and position interpreters. Results verify correlations as indicators for different kinds of collaboration. Expected changes by JeKi correlate highly positive (r=.71**) with the contentness with the collaboration. More correlations between the teachers’ egocentric networks and other variables are expected, e.g. their self-concept or the school leadership.
