Session Information
09 SES 10 A, Findings from International Comparative Achievement Studies. Session 6: Relationships in Reading Performance (Part 3)
Symposium, continued from 09 Ses 05 A and 09 Ses 09 A
Contribution
This presentation describes a mapping of the inner workings of a small high-equity education system with a broad lense. Results are presented from the first year of a 3-year research project in Iceland that evaluates the relationship between student achievement and background factors at student, teacher and school level based on longitudinal national and international data from compulsory schools. International comparative suveys like PISA and TALIS provide important information about the effectiveness of school systems. A decade of near perfect system-wide records are available of all schools in Iceland for both achievement and contextual indicators from four cycles of OECD PISA, the OECD TALIS survey 2007 and national standard tests.
