Saving European research funding from budget cuts

Saving European research funding from budget cuts: Online petition

The upcoming EU summit (November 22-23, 2012) will see negotiations on the European research budget for the coming seven years. Significant budget cuts in research and science are expected. In order to raise awareness of possible implications, an open letter signed by European Nobel laureates will be published in top European newspapers next week. ISE and EERA would like to increase the impact of this open letter by mobilising researchers across Europe in the run-up to the EU summit. An online petition will therefore soon be available online.

In order to support this cause, EERA would appreciate if
(a) your network's members and/or the members of your association could circulate the attached letter among colleagues and the general public and
(b) invite scholars in your field and/or country to sign the online petition once it is released.

Please consult the EERA website at <link http: www.eera.eu _blank>www.eera.eu or the ISE homepage at <link http: www.initiative-science-europe.org _blank external link in new>www.initiative-science-europe.org in the coming two weeks for more details on the online petition.
