The Annual General Assembly 2009 has elected two new office bearers for EERA. Prof. Lejf Moos will follow Prof. Ingrid Gogolin as President of EERA; Prof. Theo Wubbels will take over the role as treasurer from Prof. Wim Jochems.

The World Education Research Association (WERA), a major new scholarly society with a global reach, will be formally recognized in ceremonies on September 29, 2009 in Vienna Austria. The event marks the end of more than two years of intensive effort by representatives of education research associations from around the world to establish a new forum to advance and share scholarly knowledge on education on an international scale.

The World Education Research Association (WERA) invites proposals to establish International Research Networks (IRNs). The purpose of WERA-IRNs is to advance education research worldwide on specific scholarly topics. IRNs are temporary collaborative groups of scholars working on a specific research topic primarily through virtual communication. IRNs synthesize knowledge, examine the state of research, and stimulate collaborations or otherwise identify promising directions in research areas of worldwide significance.
