Commissioner Geoghegan-Quinn's Reply to Joint Letter on SSH in 'Horizon 2020'

Commissioner Geoghegan-Quinn's reply to the joint letter by the European Alliance for Social Sciences and Humanities declares that the European Commission is "fully committed to strengthening the role of Social Sciences and Humanities (SSH)" in Horizon 2020 and that "SSH research at EU level is indispensable in understanding and tackling our ever more complex societal challenges".
As far as the implementation of the new FP and the integration of SSH is concerned the Commissioner talks of "stepping away from a programme exclusively dedicated to SSH" and highlights that "performing interdisciplinary work" is central to her idea of "mainstreaming SSH".
