The Institute for Professional Development in Education at the Faculty of Environmental, Regional and Educational Sciences is seeking to appoint a Professor (f/m) of Empirical Educational Research (40 hours per week; permanent employment; expected starting date October 1st 2018).

The research focus of this position shall be on empirical educational research within the context of schools. Research approaches to school and society which are connected to the Institute’s previous research core areas (school and evaluation research, teacher training) are expected. The professionalisation of pedagogues (incl. general didactic challenges and institutional frameworks of the teaching profession) shall, in this regard, be of relevance. Experience in empirical teaching and learning research, as well as in analyses of schools addressing in handling of heterogeneity, based on well-established research methodological knowledge of qualitative and quantitative educational research, shall be expected. A prerequisite for the application is a Habilitation in the area of educational science, psychology or the social sciences, or equivalent scientific qualification and a verification of pedagogic-didactic aptitude within academic teaching. Candidates are further expected to have published papers of high scientific quality and have international contacts. The successful acquisition of contractual research projects is expected. We expect leadership experience as well as competence in the area of Diversity Management.

In addition, we expect gender mainstreaming competence.
