The 2005 European Conference on Educational Research was held in the School of Education and Lifelong Learning, University College Dublin, from 7 to 10 September 2005.

The Post-Graduate and New Researchers' Pre-Conference took place between 5 and 6 September 2005.

EERA is pleased to announce that Wilfried Bos, Ian Grosvenor, Frank Simon, Samuel Gento, Jan van der Akker and Johanna Lahja Lasonen were awarded an Honorary Network Membership by the EERA Council at the Council Meeting in March in Berlin.

The EU Council is about to adopt the next Multiannual Financial Framework, setting up the Union budget for 2021-27, as well as the funds allocation for each one of the main chapters, namely Agriculture policy, Cohesion and Competitiveness. EERA and other research associations have therefore endorsed a manifesto asking to recognize research and research based innovation as the main drivers of EU competitiveness and growth.

During their candidate membership researchers from Armenia, Malta, Romania and Russia successfully have set up an educational research association in their countries were granted full membership in EERA. "With the four new members EERA accepts active research communities as they have all not only shown research activities but have also arranged conferences and meetings", says Theo Wubbels, president of EERA.

Since 2010 EERA has financially supported various projects (e.g. seminars & meetings) and season schools for emerging researchers, all organised by EERA networks. Now EERA is again inviting project proposals. Submissions are to be handed in to EERA office by 15 May.

The central message of the response of the EERA to the #FP9 consultations is that EERA is happy with the inclusion of a recommendation about education and the emerging consensus of the necessity to use the Programme to enhance the social aspect of Europe in the coming years. EERA further welcomes the initiative by EASSH to develop a common platform to bring the insights and concerns of the broad community of social science and humanities (SSH) researchers to the Commission.
