Session Information
03 SES 11, Curriculum Development Research in European Curriculum Institutes
Round Table
Contribution
The title of this Roundtable (Curriculum Development Research) intentionally combines two fields: ‘curriculum development' and ‘design/development research’. The aim of this symposium is to discuss functions and forms of research related to complex curriculum development challenges as has been applied in six European curriculum institutes. It focuses on how research is applied in order to increase the quality of curriculum design and development in these countries. And the other way around: it illustrates how the relevance of educational research - a widely debated issue - can benefit from a connection to curriculum policies and practices.
Relevant questions that will be addressed be each contributor are:
- How are those linkages created?
- To what extent does research contribute to the quality of curriculum development?
- What are major foci and methods of that research?
- How to optimize the interrelation between research and curriculum development?
The roundtable will start with brief presentations of six contributors, each representing one European curriculum institute, followed by comments by our chair, who will also act as discussant.
