Contribution
Health related behaviour indicate and reflects all actions which directly or indirectly affect our health status (Bruhn, 1988). Of particular interest is to explain, understand and to predict health behaviour of children and school aged children. On European level we can see many efforts and research projects aimed to further and better understanding of school aged children health today. Current and previous studies have highlighted and explained a number of predictors of health related-behaviours of younger and older students. Some particular studies are conducted in Croatia, as well, and general knowledge related to the school aged children health is increasing (Kuzman, Simetin and Franelić, 2004, 2008; Burušić, Šakić and Koprtla, 2014).
One of important topic related to children and adolescents health is related to parents opinion and perception, since parents are important role model in the formation of many children behavioural patterns (Burušić, Šakić and Koprtla, 2014; Cheng at all. 2014). If parents have a sufficient knowledge, express healthy eating habits, or if parents are aware of the importance of avoiding sugar and fat in food it is reasonable to expect positive consequences on children eating habits, for instance. The same expectation could be formed in the case of another health-related habits, what provokes another important questions. Who are a parents who form a good role model and which parent's traits are important in identifying health related behaviours of their children?
The aim of the present study was to examine certain parental traits and to understand their role in explaining parental perception of particular important health-related behaviour of their children - quality of physical activity. Therefore, we intended to see how parents perceive their children's behaviour related to physical activity, and to consider predictive power of particular parent’s traits in explaining parental perception of quality of physical activity of their children.
