The rapid economic, social and technological change that appeared in twenty-first century and depending on this, increase of manpower trained in different qualities required the revision of viewpoint towards leadership. This change reflected as cooperation and understanding rather than competition for organizations and led present-day managers to internalize administrative styles which are not fear-based but distributive to increase the performances of the staff. As ancient leadership models depending on enforcement, competition and hierarchy strikes as factors affecting negatively individuals’ enthusiasm and performances rather than motivating them. As a result of this rapid change, leadership properties came out rather than managing properties, “management” conception changed its meaning and the responsibilities of managers increased. From now on then, the managers are not individuals who run towards the declared target but the ones who can analyse the qualities and abilities of dealers and in this way make them lock on the target with an effecting communication and collaboration, and the leaders involving in the process.
Just leadership skill is not enough for success in education. Education is a product that emerge with sharing responsibilities of different people from different units taking place in education process. At the present day, existing classical and central approach related to educational organization started to lose its popularity, and strong single leader concept gave its place to more democratic, more sharing appraoches like distributive leadership. It is clear that if people existing in every stage of educational product share the educational process, and principals distribute the power, it will affect the motivation of the employees.
In every level of education, instructors and principals are always in mutual interaction for success. The direction and scale of this interaction provides pleasure to the instructors working in educational institutions, correspondingly, provides them to motivate themselves on their works. Motivation is a positive phenomenon for the people working in every level of education. However, when it is thought that faculty members execute universities’s educational, investigational and social responsibility missions, it is seen that the job satisfaction of instructors working in universities not only contributes the education and training of university students ,but also has a share in country’s social and economical development. The satisfaction of staff members working in universities is affected by the leadership manner as well as such different variables as organizational structure, working environment, and relationships with colleagues.
The purpose of this study is to determine the effects of distributive leadership behaviors of foreign languages schools principals on the job satisfaction of instructors. For this purpose, five basic research questions were developed:
1)What is effect of distributive leadership behaviours of principals on job satisfaction of instructors?
2)What is effect of distributive leadership behaviours of principals on intrinsic job satisfaction of instructors?
3) How does the perception of instructors related to such distributive leadership dimensions as modelling the way”, “ınspiring the shared vision”, “challenging the process”, “enabling others to act ” and “encouraging the heart” affect their intrinsic job satisfaction?
4)What is effect of distributive leadership behaviours of principals on extrinsic job satisfaction of instructors?
5) How does the perception of instructors related to such distributive leadership dimensions as modelling the way”, “ınspiring the shared vision”, “challenging the process”, “enabling others to act ” and “encouraging the heart” affect their extrinsic job satisfaction?
