Contribution
The contribution focuses on a conceptual guide to analyze curriculum materials and textbooks. This theory-based framework also includes the teacher´s choices to interprete and use a curriculum or textbook
in various settings of practice. The core ideas, components and de-sign of a curriculum or textbook are part of the analysis with the aim to reflect how teachers and students make use of a given curriculum.
Based on modern curriculum theory, the guide helps to understand the codified and enacted curriculum as well as their interplay. Thus, the match and mismatch of a conceptual curriculum design can be identified in view of (1) the users´ needs and ideas, (2) patterns of curriculum enactment, and (3) situations where a curriculum is im-plemented, adapted or changed.
With this in mind, the curriculum guide may stimulate a comparing, reflective look at the curriculum or textbooks presented in this sym-posium as well as to draw conclusions for modern ways to design a curriculum or textbook.
