Symposium
Contribution
This paper focuses on the research design for the pilot action-research project for all case studies presented in this large symposium. The research is guided by a commitment to developing the field and providing research and scientific tools of and for the education field with four key objectives. We examine the purposes of the action research, the methods used, the development of the data collection tools, the administration of the data collection tools, the analysis of the data and how the team came to coherently present findings for each pilot case-study in a way that enabled us to make comparisons and draw conclusions from the findings. We then explore how the action research project design enables the School Management Team to make meaning of the evidence from which they develop transformative interventions to impact patterns of participation for improved learning, achievement, attainment, and building life narratives for a vibrant and fair community in school and beyond. Finally we reveal how professional researchers, working in partnership with the school’s researching professionals make meaning of the impact of the transformative interventions on new roles in patterns of participation, learning, achievement, and the building of life narratives influenced through optimizing community members’ participation.
