Session Information
Contribution
The major report from the Norwegian contribution to the International Examinations Inquiry was published in 1961. The book by Kai Piene "Eksamenskarakterer og forhåndskarakterer" (Examination Marks) was based on the authors investigations from the late 1937 to 1940, financed by the Norwegian Carnegie Committee. The Norwegian part of this international research project was established in 1935 and represented in the second conference of the international project by one member and in the third conference by three participants. The research work supported by the Norwegian part of the project was done by three younger educational researchers. The major research was published with a delay of a decade or more. The contribution to the symposium will give an account of the research of the Norwegian group related to the contributions of the Norwegian participants in the second and third conferences set up by the international project. The delay of the major publications and possible impact on the development of education as a field of research and educational policy in Norway will be traced by comparisons of pre WWII and post WWII publications from the researchers and their possible impact on research and policy developments after 1945. The presentation also will look at possible influences between the Nordic researchers in the international inquiry, from Finland, Sweden, and Norway.
